Story

On Friday 28th November around 7pm we are going to release lanterns in memory of Dale by the seafront at Seabrook (opposite petrol station and ice cream kiosk) . We chose this spot as it was one of Dales most favourite places to hang out on his long board, and he loved to ride all the way along the path to the Imperial hotel and beyond. Hope to see as many of you as possible on Friday xxx

Flying Lanterns in memory of Dale

9th April 2015
On Friday evening a large crowd of friends and family of Dale gathered by the seafront at the Seabrook/sandgate junction. The sky was wonderfully clear and the view of the moon and stars amazing, the perfect setting for releasing the lanterns in Dales memory. It was brilliant to see so many of Dales friends and family there and the atmosphere was buzzing. Lots of tears but plenty of laughter and banter too, and sharing of stories about Dale. The first releases of lanterns did not go quite to plan with many either not getting off the ground, or blowing sideways and crashing into the pebbles and breaking, which all received a large cheer and shouts of aaaahhh!! from the big crowd of onlookers!! Then, someone had a good idea of releasing them the small woodland opposite, which offers a little cover from the wind, and finally, the first lanterns made their ascent into the sky!! yeeaaahh went the crowd, ha. Then one after another lanterns were flown by mum and dad, brothers, sister, rest of his family and his friends. The sight looked amazing and beautiful as the lanterns sailed westward on the wind, in single file, following the route that Dale would have taken on his longboard as he rode from Sandgate to Seabrook Hythe. People cheered every successful launch. Overall it was a very emotional evening which was full of tears and laughter, and was lovely to have Dales nearest and dearest down at the seafront to be together. Dale would have definitely approved - he would have loved it !!! Thanks to all you beautiful people who made it down and to those who couldn't make it but sent your messages of love and support, the family really appreciated it xxx
